Obituary for Allan Van Dyke

Allan  Van Dyke
Allan Van Dyke, "Mr. Fabulous", 67, of Bloomfield, departed this life on Tuesday, November 19th, 2013, after a courageous battle with a long illness. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 1-4pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair. Cremation will be private. Mr. Van Dyke leaves behind a legacy of good counsel to all who knew him as a 30 year friend of Bill W.
Born in Orange , N.J., Allan grew up in the Vailsburg section of Newark. A self made man, he attended Kean College, William Patterson College and Montclair State University. After a career in elementary education and educational sales, Allan became a Certified Substance Awareness Counsellor and worked in the Keansburg School District and Turning Point in Secaucus, NJ. Among his career highlights were two awards for Salesman of the Year, but his proudest achievement was his trophy for Best Little Leaguer of the Year1957 -"boy with the most heart". Mr Van Dyke left all who knew him with the gift of laughter.

He leaves behind to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Regina (nee Regan), his daughter Nicole Pierro, son-in-law Michael Pierro and grandchildren Jack and Lucy of New Providence, NJ. Surviving also is his sister Susan Lobravico of Brick, NJ and her children, Dina(Frank) Ricciardi and Peter (Tamara) Lobravico.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Giuliano, and Dr. Ranka Samsa of Nutley for their excellent care, and also Robert Bainbridge, Jr., and Christos Gikas for their devoted friendship during his difficult times.
