Obituary for Aurea P Cestone
Aurea (Cid) Cestone, 87, of North Caldwell, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ with her loving husband and daughter by her side.
Visitation will be held at the Caggiano Memorial Home, Montclair, NJ on Monday March 28 between the hours of 2 pm - 4pm and 7pm -9pm.
Funeral services will begin on at the Funeral Home Tuesday March 29 at 10 am. All will leave for Notre Dame RC Church, Central Avenue, North Caldwell, where a Mass of Christian Burial will start at 11:30 am.
Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, NJ.
Aurea was born in Yonkers, New York, to John and Amelia(nee Otero) Cid. She attended Albany State Teachers College and continued her studies at Columbia University in New York City, where she earned her Masters Degree in English and Spanish. Following her graduation, she taught English and Spanish at Hauppauge High School in Hauppauge, New York.
Aurea was an active member of the Caldwell Branch of the American Association of University Women. She was a member for many years and participated in the many fundraising projects for the group, with a very special interest in the book club. Always an avid reader, she enjoyed the participation with other member and the discussions that ensued.
Aurea was a loving friend to many and all who knew her were touched by her goodness, kind personality and warm, welcoming smile. Always ready to enter into a good conversation and especially if it was tempered with some laughter, so much the better.
Aurea was predeceased by both her parents in addition to her dear daughter Celeste.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rudy Cestone, her loving daughter Toni Casale , and two cherished grandchildren Daniel and Olivia. She also leaves behind her most devoted and loving caregiver of 7 years, Jolanta Herbut.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Aurea's memory and sent to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th floor, New York, NY
