Obituary for Silvestro Catalano


Silvestro A. Catalano, 85, of Bloomfield formerly of Cerami, Sicily, passed away on March 26, 2016. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday 10:30AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Montclair with an interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair. Visiting will be on Wednesday from 7-9pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair. caggianomemorial.com

Silvestro immigrated to the U.S. and immediately received his citizenship and a Union Card to work as a mason in the Local NJ-4 Interntional Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman, and received a 50 year life member award for his outstanding service and achievements..

He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially at the dinner table with his grandchildren, and was a devoted member and past Vice President of the Saint Sebastian Society in Montclair

Silvestro is survived by his childen, Anthony (Arlesiana) Michael (Tina), 3 grandchildren, Sophia, Stella, Juiliann, his sisters, Maria Prestifilippo, Rosa Catalano, Sebastiana Brancato, Aurelia Zingale, his brothers Guiseppe, Antonio, and Carmelo , and is predeceased by his wife, Lita (nee Pecora), and his parents, Antonio and Maria (nee Locasio), and a brother Michael.
