Obituary for William J Arnott

William James Arnott, age 82, passed away at Inglemoor Rehabilitation & Care Center, Livingston, NJ on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 2, 10am at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona with a Interment at Calverton National Cemetery on the following day. Visiting will be on Sunday from 1-4pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair. caggianomemorial.com

Born on January 16, 1934 in Bronx, NY, moving to Lake Ronkonkoma and Barryville, NY before retiring at The Villages, Lake Sumter, Florida.

A Navy Veteran & National Defense Service Medal recipient Bill found his place with the New York Police Department (NYPD) Harbor Patrol Unit until his retirement. He served the U.S. National Park Service as Park Ranger at Fire Island National Seashore, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, NY and Shenandoah National Park, VA amongst other endeavors.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife Dolores of 57 years along with two brothers Walter and George. Bill is survived by his children William Arnott and his wife Robin, Cathy Arnott, Dolores Flood and her husband Don, Robert Arnott and his wife Elizabeth, his grandchildren, Sarah, Katie, Conner, Ryan, Megan, Sarah, Matthew, Sean, Mary, his sister Maria, sister-in-law Joan McDowell, brother-in-law Robert Durr and wife Judy, many nieces and nephews, along with extraordinary “brother in arms” lifelong friend Sonny Giordano and wife Mary.

His wish for remembrance is “Life was good!”
