Obituary for Frank P Catalano Sr.

Frank P. Catalano Sr. of Cedar Grove, formerly of Montclair, passed away peacefully November 21, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 27 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Caggiano Memorial 62 Grove St., Montclair, NJ.  Funeral mass will be held Monday, November 28, 10:30am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Montclair, NJ.  Interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair.  

 Frank was born and raised in Newark, NJ “down neck”.  He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, receiving a purple heart for being wounded in action. Upon returning home Frank became a Newark Police Officer for 25 years, retiring in 1995.  He then went on to a career as the director of security at Hartz Mountain Properties in Secaucus, NJ.  Frank is survived by his wife Rita (nee Buldo), his loving children Frank Jr (Jennifer), Christina Nasce (Joseph), and Maria.  He was the cherished grandfather of Francesca and Santino Catalano, Nickolina and Giavana Nasce.  Also survived by his mother Nicolena (nee Bibbo) and his adoring sister Michele Torrens (Michael).  Predeceased by his sister, Lucille Nelson.  Frank was a supporting member of Newark Police FOP Lodge #12.  Frank considered his greatest accomplishment in life to be his family, and his absolute joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
