Obituary for Wiliam H James

William H. James of Bloomfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, at Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge, NJ.

Visiting hours will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove Street, Montclair. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 28 at St. Cassian Church, 187 Bellevue Ave., Montclair. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Bloomfield. Caggianomemorial.com

Born in Paterson, William was a long-time resident of Hawthorne, Clifton and later Belmar. He lived in Bloomfield since 2005. William was a former buyer at Macy's, Sterns, and Meyer Brothers. He was active in many organizations over the years, serving on the Hawthorne Board of Education, and as an usher and Eucharistic Minister at St. Brendan's in Clifton, St. Rose's in Belmar and St. Cassian's in Montclair. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. William was predeceased by his wife Florence Tileston James, and is survived by his daughter Elizabeth, nephews Tim and Ralph Tileston, and niece Terri Tileston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Home for the Elderly, 140 Shepherd Lane, Totowa, NJ, 07512.
