On Saturday, December 2nd, Lena Capurso left this world surrounded by her family and entered into the arms of her beloved husband, Sergio. She came to the United States with her mother from Molfetta, Italy in 1934 at age 14. Lena settled in Hoboken with her family and at the young age of 16 worked as a dressmaker in Manhattan. Her Supervisor was Fortunato Sorvino, the father of actor Paul Sorvino. After waiting for the love of her life, Sergio to return from World War II, they married in 1947 and were together for 62 years until his passing in 2009. She was a homemaker and proud mother of three children, grandmother, to three and great-grandmother to three.
For the last few years, her eldest son Vito was her primary caregiver and confidante. There is no doubt in our minds that her son's loving care extended her time with her family and friends.
She was the beloved wife of Sergio Capurso. Loving mother of Vito, Angela, her husband Jim Dolan and Louis and his wife Robin. Cherished grandmother of Dominic Darpino and his wife Cheryl, Heather Batti and her husband Andrew and Louis Jr. She was great-grandmother to Jared, Zachary and Elaina Darpino.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6th from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove Street, Montclair, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7th at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church- St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 30 N. Fullerton Avenue, Montclair, N.J.
Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lena's memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
