Obituary for Phyllis D'Annunzio

Phyllis D’Annunzio (nee DeRienzo), of Normandy Shores, NJ, formerly of West Orange, NJ , and formerly a Boca Raton Florida snow bird, was the beloved wife of 58 years of Francis C. D’Annunzio, who predeceased her and who has been waiting for her. Phyllis was called to the Lord peacefully on June 8, 2018, the Feast of The Blessed Sacrament, surrounded by family and love, at home, overlooking the majestic ocean that she always found so comforting and beautiful. Phyllis devoted her life to her family. Her kindness, caring, and benevolence were legendary. Born and raised in Newark , NJ, she was also predeceased by her parents Mary and Umberto DeRienzo, her sister Sarah Cucolo , and her brothers Vincent (Jimmy) and Carl DeRienzo. Phyllis is survived by her children Francesca and her husband Bob Fortunato, Nicea and her husband Vincent Ziccardi, Chez D’Annunzio and George and his wife Paula D’Annunzio together with her loving grandchildren Bobby and Gianna Fortunato and Gabrielle D’Annunzio and many wonderful family and friends .

After a career as an interior designer and as an elementary school teacher, Phyllis devoted her life to her four children and her family. Her unwavering love of her children and the home and the education she provided for them, together with her husband Francis, were her greatest joys. In addition to being an amazing daughter, sister, wife, and mother Phyllis was also a worldwide traveler. Phyllis’ life story was always on her own terms and it was quite a journey. All who knew her were blessed and she will forever be in our hearts.
