Obituary for Richard McCurley

Richard F. McCurley, 82, of North Caldwell formerly of Cedar Grove, Bloomfield and Kearny, passed away on September 9th, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11am at Caggiano Memorial Home, 62 Grove St, Montclair. Interment to follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, in Caldwell. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8pm at the funeral home. Caggianomemorial.com

Richard worked in Credit Insurance sales to banks for many years, and was a Corporal in the United States Army serving as Military Police from 1955-1957 at Ft. Lewis Washington, and Anchorage and Fairbanks AK.

Richard enjoyed family get-togethers and Friday night dinners with life long friends. His favorite vacation spot was Ocean City, NJ, from infancy on. He was a devoted dog lover leaving his beloved Great Pyrenees surviving him.
He enjoyed golf and following the Giants and Yankees. He participated in the Cedar Grove slow pitch league for many years and was active in the cedar Grove Booster Club and rooted for the Cedar Grove football team.

Richard is survived by his wife Virginia V. McCurley (nee Vogt), his children, Douglas R. McCurley and his wife Dawn, Karen L. Nolfi and her husband Dominick, and Janice L. McCurley, his grandchildren, Caitlin LaRue and her husband Michael, Andrew Nolfi and his wife Paige, Kimberly McCurley, James McCurley, and Zachary Nolfi, and by his great grandchildren, Olivia and Harper LaRue, and Lena, Tristan, and Cora Nolfi, and by his brother Robert C. McCurley and his wife Barbara; niece Lori Mish and a nephew Robert, and their spouses and children.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles E. and Isabella Stewart McCurley, and a sister Iris Kalbhenn.
