George W. Zehnder, Sr, "Spanky", 89, of Montclair, passed away on October 5th, 2016 at his home. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday October 10th at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church in Montclair, interment at St. John Cemetery in Orange to follow. Visiting will be on Sunday from 2-6pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair. caggianomemorial.com

Mr Zehnder was born and raised in Vailsburg, moving to East Orange then settling in Montclair 55 years ago. He was a Tool & Dye Foreman at Varityper in East Hanover, and a custodian at MKA School in Montclair.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jane (nee Keane), his children, Mary Beth Pugliese and her husband Michael, Nancy Keane and her husband John Sr, Kevin Zehnder, Sarah Jayne Smith and her husband Gary, Jeffrey Zehnder and his wife Joanne, Kathleen Urban and Steven Katzenstein, George Zehnder Jr., 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and he is predeceased by 9 siblings.
