Obituary for John Gudger

John Gudger, 92, of Lopatcong, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018. Visiting will be on Thursday July12th from 6-8pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair. A graveside service will be Friday July 13th, 1pm at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. Caggianomemorial.com
John was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, then lived in Belleville, before moving to Waretown and settling in Lopatcong in 1990. He was a clerk for the US Postal service in Newark for 27 years, and a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII, and the US Army serving as a sergeant and the Korean War.
He was an avid gardner, enjoyed his Koi pond, and generously shared his passion for gardening with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Johanna McAteer and companion Bill Kopf of Harmony, Jeana Bott and her husband George of Lopatcong, his grandchildren, Errol Bott and his wife Alison, Lisa Calandra and her husband Sal, Kate McAteer, and Ethan Bott his great-grandchildren, Kyler, Zane and River, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Marie R. Gudger (nee Longo) in 2013, his daughter Jamie, and by 2 brothers, Lt. James Dale Gudger, and an infant.
