Obituary for Nicholas Panza

Nicholas F. Panza, 92 of North Caldwell, NJ passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018. A Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 94 Pine St, Montclair, NJ on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 10 am, followed by the entombment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 712 Grove St, Montclair, NJ.
Visiting will be on Tuesday from 4-8pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, MOntclair.

Born in Aquilonia, in the province of Avellino, Italy. Mr. Panza came to the United States when he was just eight months old. His legacy personifies the ideals of the American dream. He was driven, ethical and successful.
Days before his eighteenth birthday. Mr. Panza enlisted in the United States Navy and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of operation as a gunner. He was also involved in the naval support of infantry operations during the Battle of IWO Jima.
Upon his return home, Mr. Panza took advantage of the GI bill and ultimately earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Pace College. Subsequently, he went on to secure an MBA from Northwestern University.
Throughout his career, Mr. Panza had one employer. He retired as the Executive Vice President of the original Jersey Mortgage Company in Elizabeth. Mr. Panza secured financing for many large-scale commercial projects and was often referred to as the “God” of the industry.
Preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (nee Stefan) and daughters Robin Helminski and Yvonne Panza, Mr. Panza is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Faughnan of Barnegat and Ellen Nicollette “Niki” Panza of North Caldwell, three granddaughters and two great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Anello, Mr. Panza is also survived by his brother Michael Panza, sisters Josephine Testa, Rosemarie Cetrulo and Jacqueline Scannelli, his companion of the last ten years. Mr. Panza also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
