Obituary for Gloria Brown Matthews
Gloria Brown Matthews, 76, lifelong Montclair resident, passed away on Thursday March 28, 2019. A wake service will be at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 51 Elm St, Montclair from 10am -11am on Friday April 5th, and a funeral service will begin at 11am. Interment at Rosedale Cemetery, Montclair.
Gloria worked as a Manager at AT&T/Alcatel-Lucent for over 40 years before retiring. She was the past President of the Montclair Section of NCNW and was on the Board of Directors at the Hollow Day Care Center and at First Montclair House. She was also a devoted member of St Mark’s, serving as a Communion Steward and a Member of United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her children, Valerie Brown-Baul (Charles) and Lisa Matthews; her siblings, Isaac Brown Jr., Diane Spencer (Clint), and Ronald Brown Sr.; her grandchildren, Christina, Earl, and Miyah; her great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Jose “Tre”; her longtime friend Jesse Moore, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Brown Sr.
