Dan was an excellent student, accomplished athlete and a loyal son, brother and friend. Dan played varsity football and lacrosse at Lawrenceville and was captain of the Lawrenceville football team, winning the conference championship his senior year. Dan was an all-conference football player at both linebacker and offensive guard, earning first-team honors, the Student-Athlete Award, and a partial scholarship to play at Hamilton College. He was also a standout lacrosse player, named one of the top 100 in the U.S. after junior year.
Dan touched all who knew him with his sense of humor, spirit of fun, and his loving and compassionate nature. He had a quick wit that could disarm you with its cleverness and sense of timing. He never forgot a friend and maintained close relationships with hometown classmates, youth sports buddies, high school teammates, college friends and even their moms and dads. Dan cared about people in the purest way. He loved them for who they were and wanted the best for them always.
Dan was an avid sports enthusiast and, in particular, a fan of the NY Giants. His love for animals led him to adopt a shelter dog, whom he named, naturally, “Manning”. He had a passion for music—from rap to the Grateful Dead and everything in between—and spent many hours learning to sing his favorites and sharing his efforts with family and friends. Dan enjoyed family vacations, skiing in Colorado and visits to the country house in rural Connecticut.
Dan is survived by his parents, Claudia and Eric, his grandfather Lennart, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Alex, Claire, Matt, Annie and Pete and by his nephews, Eric and Lenny, and niece Shaylor. In addition, he leaves behind many loving aunts and uncles, devoted cousins and legions of cherished friends and supporters. He will be deeply and profoundly missed, forever.
