Obituary for Antonette Catalano
Antonette M. Catalano (nee Sannelli), 94, of Verona, NJ, formerly of Montclair, NJ, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Crane’s Mill Rehabilitation Center in West Caldwell, NJ. Visitations will be held at Caggiano Memorial Home, 62 Grove Street, Montclair, NJ, on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 32 Lakeside Avenue, Verona, NJ. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ.
Ann was born in Newark, NJ to Ferdinando and Emilia Sannelli. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael P. Catalano, her daughter, Carol Ann Miscia, and her sisters Carmella Sannelli and Phyllis Nicosia.
During World War II, Ann was employed at the Tung Sol Tube company. Subsequently, she worked at Westinghouse Electric Company before retiring as a cashier at Montclair State College.
Grandma C, as Ann was affectionately known, touched the lives of many family members and friends. Visitors knew her door would be open and there would always be a special meal on her table. Despite suffering a stroke over 25 years ago, Ann enjoyed many more years of cooking with her daughters and traveling with her family.
Ann is survived by her daughters, Brenda Lodato, (Rick), Mary Studer (Louis), and her son-in-law, Frank Miscia. Ann is survived by six grandchildren: Nicholas Lodato (Shauna), Janine Barboza (Anthony), Phillip Lodato (Jessica), Michael Miscia (Deanna), Anthony Studer (Sarah), and Michele Ross (Daniel). She was blessed with nine beautiful great grandchildren that she adored. In addition, Ann is survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces who loved her dearly.
In her later years, Ann was sustained by a devoted and loving team of caregivers: Odette Joseph, Mini Pearl Schultze, Dionne Christie, and Clotil Issacs. As a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parrish in Verona, Anns’s spirits were buoyed by her weekly visits from Deacon Paul Pak.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association or the American Stroke Association.
