Dear Joey,

You are a legend who touched the lives of thousands of people. You are what folk stories are made of.

Your impact on people young and old was profound, dating back to your days in middle school.

You were admired. You were loved by all. Friends and strangers were in awe of you.

I got to know you at GR shore week, 1997. We spent the week together with the 97’ girls graduating class.

You were a listener, storyteller, and friend. Your intentions were sincere and honest. Your heart was pure.

Your humility was golden. Your excitement and attention to others was unparalleled.

If you wanted to move mountains, you could have. You had an army standing behind you, at all times.

May God take your hands and love you and guide you through eternity.

May your spirit shine bright in the lives that you touched.

And may your family find comfort in knowing the impact you had on the lives of so many.

May the legacy of Joey Heckle live on forever.

Good night my brother. Big hugs. Big Love. Always.

- Jesse Myers

Mrs. Heckel, Lori, and Family, you’re in my heart and my thoughts. It’s a difficult time, but feel comfort in knowing the positive impact Joey had on so many people. Joey, you've moved mountains for friends and family. You welcomed everyone with open arms, a hug, and a one liner to set the tone. Your smile, laugh, and compassion will never be forgotten. Thank you for being my friend.

Love always,
Bryan Bennett

Joey was one of the funniest and most fun loving people to grace this planet. Laughing, smiling and letting the good times roll. He will be missed and mourned by many, but remembered by all that were lucky enough to know him. RIP Joey.
