Obituary for John DiNapoli

John DiNapoli 80, of Parsippany NJ, was taken from this world too soon as a result

of the Covid-19 virus, on April 7, 2020.

John was born May 2,1939 to Antoinette (nee Fastiggi) and Angelo DiNapoli in Montclair, NJ. He was the oldest of their three sons.

After graduating from Montclair High School Class of 1956, John went on to a long and successful banking career starting with Montclair National Bank, which became American National Bank, Horizon Bancorp and finally Chase. He married his wife, Angela (nee Pomarico) in 1962. John resided in Montclair until 1974 when he moved his family to West Orange, eventually settling in Parsippany in 2004 with wife Angela. John was a graduate of the ABA Stonier Banking School at Rutgers University.

An avid sports fan, John frequently attended Montclair High School Football games as well as being a season ticket holder of the New York Football Giants since 1959, when the team still played at Yankee Stadium. John was also a huge New York Yankees fan and had much interest in basketball, golf, horse racing, boxing and hockey.

A proud and valuable, member of the Orange/West Orange Chapter of Unico International, John served as Chapter President from 1988-1990. He served as District Governor from 1992-1994 and was named the Chapter's Man of the Year in 1998. In 2011, John was awarded the very prestigious Anthony P. Vastola Award in a lavish ceremony in Washington, D.C. He remained active and involved in the organization up until his passing.

John is survived by Angela, his beloved wife of 57 years; son, John Jr. of Roselle Park, and two daughters, Diane Butler and her husband, Anthony of East Hanover, and Carol Surdi and her husband, Peter of Whippany. He also leaves behind 8 loving grandchildren Diana, John III, Danielle, Thomas, Brianna, Anthony, Christine, and Gina. He is also survived by two brother in laws, three sister in laws, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. John is predeceased by his parents and two younger brothers, Joseph and Frank DiNapoli.

Due to the coronavirus crisis, the burial service for John will be private. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
