Glenn Christopher Perry
Navy veteran, Montclair fireman for 33 years
Glenn Christopher Perry was born to Columbus and Mildred Perry on June 15, 1949, at Columbus Hospital in Newark, N.J. He passed away Feb. 8, 2021.
He attended Montclair High School where he played football. After high school he joined the Navy for two years and worked as a boatswain mate where he served and ranked as E3. After he was discharged from the Navy he continued his education at William Paterson University. He then became employed with Montclair Recycling Company and later worked at the Motorcycle Mall in Belleville, N.J.
After a couple of years, he started his career as a fireman in Montclair, N.J., on May 5, 1981. While working there he was also a part of (Fair Local Chapter) Firefighters Against Injustice and Racism as well as being a part of (IBPFFA)-International Black Professional Fire Fighters Association. He worked as a fireman for years then was promoted to Lieutenant then to Captain. He was an extremely hard worker and dedicated to his career. After 33 years he retired on February 1, 2014.
Visiting is Wednesday, February 17, from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair. Interment at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.
