Obituary for Glenn McCray

Glenn Stephen McCray was born in New York City on May 14, 1953. He was the first-born child of Margaret and the late Frank McCray Jr.



Glenn spent his childhood on Wayne Avenue in East Orange, NJ, where he developed many lifelong friends and became a Cub Scout. He attended the East Orange Public Schools including East Orange High School until his family moved to Montclair and he transferred to Montclair High School. Glenn studied Accounting at the University of the District of Columbia and worked many years in the printing business.



Glenn was a talented musician who loved many genres of music from Rock to Blues to R&B to Gospel. He learned to play the guitar, French horn, and keyboard. Glenn played guitar in several bands through the years and was a part of the Music Ministry at various churches. Most recently he was a member of the Music Ministry at Soulwinners Glorious Assembly in East Orange, NJ.



One of his favorite pastimes was playing Scrabble, which he played daily with his mother. He was also a talented artist who enjoyed sketching and working with pastels and charcoal.



Glenn was preceded in death by his father Frank McCray Jr.



Glenn is survived by his mother Margaret (née McCants) McCray; his son Matthew McCray; his sisters Janis (Ricky) Schenck, Alison (Tony) Mahone, and Cecily (Gary) Garris; his nieces Jillian (Davren) Noble, Jaiden Mahone, Kyleigh Noble, and Brielle Williams. His nephews Ryan Schenck, Darin Schenck, Alex Garris, Brandon Garris, and Zachias Noble; his canine nephew Champ; and a host of beloved family members and friends.
