Obituary for Carmela D'Agostino

Carmela D'Agostino (nee DiGeronimo), of Montclair, passed away on Wednesday October 20, 2021. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday October 25 at St. Joseph’s Church, 44 Benvenue Avenue, West Orange. Entombment will be in Lacedonia, Italy. Visiting is Sunday October 24 from 1-5pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair.

Carmela was born on May 17, 1931 in Lacedonia, in the Campania region of Italy. She moved to Luino, on Lake Maggiore, after her marriage in 1950 and immigrated to Montclair in 1957. She worked as a seamstress at a coat factory in Paterson until 1971, then worked from home as a successful and beloved tailor for many years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Montclair. She is survived by her children, Mary D’Agostino and her husband Steven Lee, Michael D’Agostino and his wife Isabella; her grandchildren, Melinda Taylor and her husband Robert, Roxana Wells and her husband Stewart, Michael P. D’Agostino, Veronica Lee and her husband Marc Zeiger-Guerra, Jessica Lee and her husband Michael Lewis, and Carina Lee; and her great grandchildren, Robert, Charles, Ryan, Ethan, Mikayla, Milo, Julien and August. She also leaves behind two siblings, Rocco DiGeronimo, and Maria Ferri, both living in Italy.

She was predeceased by her husband Pasquale, her daughter Chiara, and by her sister Giovanna Abbruzzese.
