Obituary for Matthew Monetti

Matthew A. Monetti, 79, of Woodland Park, formerly of Montclair, passed away on January 2nd, 2022 at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Paterson NJ. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 19th at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Montclair.

Born in Newark, Matthew resided in Bloomfield for 21 years. He lived in Montclair for 54 years and was a letter carrier for the Montclair Post Office for 33 years before retiring. He then worked at First MCO for 11 years and later worked as a security guard at Montclair Kimberley Academy, a crossing guard in Caldwell, and most recently became a teacher’s lunch aide in West Orange.

He was an avid sports fan, and his greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was their biggest fan and never missed a game. His heart of gold made him the person he was. He gave everything he had to anyone who knew him. His number one goal was his family, whether it was on vacation, at a family function, or sporting event, his time with his family was what he cherished the most.
Matthew was predeceased by his parents James and Theresa (nee Mineo). He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Theresa (nee Pomarico), and his daughters Denise Riccio (Joseph), Michele Cornelius (Richard), and his two grandsons Joseph Riccio and Christian Cornelius. He is also survived by his sister Frances Witczak (Jerry) and Theresa Smith (Steve), his in-laws Angelo Pomarico (Carol), Angela DiNapoli (the late John) and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children would be appreciated.
