Obituary for Joseph D'Andrea

Joseph D’Andrea, 85, of West Orange, formerly of Newark, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2022. He was a loving uncle who enjoyed model railroading, trainspotting, baseball, bar-b-ques and current events. He is survived by his nieces and nephews Denise (née D’Andrea) and Mike Marchioli, Carol (née D’Andrea) and Jeff Sefjack, and was affectionately known as ‘Speed Racer’ to his great nephews Michael, Thomas, Steven and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his mother Egeziaca (‘Agnes’; nee Del Deo), father Manfredo D’Andrea, and brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Carmela (nee Ridolfo) D’Andrea.
Joseph was born on March 6, 1937 in Newark, NJ. He was a graduate of the Newark Public Schools, and held diplomas in Mechanical Drafting and Design from the Essex County Adult Technical School and Mechanical Design from the Newark College of Engineering. He served in the National Guard of New Jersey for 8 years and then worked for many years as a Drafter and Detailer in the machinery, tooling, telecommunications and aerospace industries until his retirement. He enjoyed playing bingo with his friends at the John P. Renna House and worked seasonally at Macy’s for several years after his retirement.
Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 08:30 – 9:30 AM at Caggiano Memorial Home for Funerals, 62 Grove St. Montclair, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 94 Pine St, Montclair, NJ. Internment will follow at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ.
