Obituary for Christine "Tina" Nolfi

On May 21, 2022 Christine (Tina) J. Nolfi, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, peacefully passed away at the age of 89 at Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge, NJ. Tina was born in Orange, NJ on October 24, 1932 to Nicholas and Carmela (Maffey) Paolella. She graduated from West Orange High School in 1950. In 1952 she married Dominick R. Nolfi at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Orange, NJ. Tina was a member of St John's Church in Orange, NJ. Her family was raised in Glen Ridge, NJ. Tina resided at Felicity Towers in Bloomfield for the last 20 years. She worked a full night shift at Cameco in Verona, NJ, came home relieving her husband, got the children off to school and went to her full time day job at Nicolo's Italian Bakery in Montclair, NJ. Our mom never seemed to sleep. She never missed her children's activities, volunteered at after school events and was busy on weekends with every imaginable adventure to the Jersey shore or Empire State Building or Statue of Liberty. She loved going into the city with us. Tina's main passions were her family and cooking. She fed the neighborhood. Our dining room table always seemed to have 3, 4 or more extra people. For sporting events, she fed the whole baseball and football teams. Everyone in Glen Ridge always asked about her meatball sandwiches. Sunday mornings we woke up to the house smelling of garlic, onions, gravy, sausage and meatballs. The love of her life was La Familia. After raising her children she took a turn raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren - day/night 24/7. She was changing diapers, feeding and teaching. She loved to dance. At family weddings she would dance till the last song. Most importantly she instilled in them the knowledge of Christ our Lord and kindness. In her final moments she taught us how to face death and what dignity was about. She truly was the strongest and bravest woman, teaching us right to the end. Tina is predeceased by her husband Dominick, brother Angelo, and sisters Beverly and Pamela. Tina is survived by her brother Nicholas, son Dominick (Karen), daughter Tina and son Thomas (Marissa). Seven grandchildren: Deirdre, Rachael, Andrew, Paul, Zachary, Isabella and Aurora. Four great-grandchildren: Ariana, Lena, Tristan and Cora. As per Tina's wishes there will be a private family memorial service.
