Obituary for Joan Malloy

Joan Marie Malloy was born on June 7, 1942 in Harlem, New York to the union of John M.
Bookhart, Sr., and Elsie L. Leach. She went home to be with our heavenly father on Thursday,
June 16, 2022.
Joan graduated from Montclair High School in 1960. After high school Joan attended Bennett
College in Greensboro, North Carolina. Years later, she attended Katherine Gibbs Business
School where she acquired her secretarial skills.
Joan worked at Hoffman LaRoche as an Executive Assistant for C-Suite Executives for 31 years.
During her tenure at Hoffman LaRoche, she relocated to Livermore, California. After retirement,
she relocated back to New Jersey to be near her family. She was a loving and caring mother and
grandmother, she was also a confidant and an amazing friend to many.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Malloy and her siblings John M. Bookhart
Jr., and Breman Bookhart, and her parents John and Elsie Bookhart.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, one sister Elise Lois Barrick and her four children,
Deirdre R. Malloy, James Steven Malloy, Andrea D. Malloy, and Lisa M. Manning.
She also leaves eight grandchildren, Richard Malloy, Markus Malloy, Alihya Mann, Monique
Wheeler, Isaiah Malloy, Antone Brown, Matthew Malloy-Hill, Deja Malloy and two great
grandchildren, Quinn Malloy and Melody Malloy, a daughter-in-law Kim Malloy and a son-in-
law Robert Manning and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones, and friends.
