Obituary for Eileen Gelston
Eileen Gelston (nee Durning & Jerbasi) passed away on April 11th surrounded by her family. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday April 15th at St. Cassian’s Church in Upper Montclair, interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. Visiting Friday from 3-7pm at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St, Montclair.
She was predeceased by first husband and father of her children Salvatore (‘Sonny’) Jerbasi and her brothers Bill and Jack Durning. She is survived by her adoring husband Oliver Gelston, children Colleen Jerbasi and her partner Joe Meinert, Bonnie Jerbasi , John Jerbasi , Amy Duggan and her husband Jim.
She was the loving grandmother to Nicholas Sengotta and his wife Jaclyn, Sarah Sengotta, Bridget Duggan, and Jack Duggan.
Eileen graduated from Montclair High 1952 then received an English Degree from Montclair State College in 1986. She was an administrator at St. Cassian Church then an Insurance Specialist at William H. Connolly Insurance Company.
Eileen truly loved spending time with all her family and took extreme pride in being a Montclair ‘girl’ throughout her life.

She can be remembered perfectly as her high school yearbook quote stated, “A nature that wins friends, a wit that brings a smile”.
