Vivian Lucille McCants was born in Mobile, Alabama on June 4, 1929, to the late Isaac and Irene McCants. She departed this life on April 17, 2023 in Montclair, New Jersey.
Vivian spent her childhood in Mobile. When she was a teenager, Vivian’s family relocated to Harlem, New York. Vivian remained living in New York until her later years when she moved to New Jersey to be closer to her sister, Margaret.
Vivian was a member of The Abyssinian Baptist Church. She also worked in her brother Sonny’s supermarket for many years.
Vivian enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and spending time with family. One of her favorite places to visit was Atlantic City.
Vivian was predeceased by her parents, Isaac and Irene (née Lett) McCants; her daughter, Barbara McMillian, her son, Kenneth McMillian; and her siblings, Anne Hall and Winston “Sonny” McCants.
Vivian is survived by; her daughter, Adrienne McDowell; her sister, Margaret McCray; her grandchildren, Charmelle Justine “CJ” Atkins, Dushaun McMillian, Matthew McMillian, and Dashron Vann; her great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many beloved family members and friends.
