Obituary for Thomas J Miele

Thomas J. Miele, aged 71, of Chester, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, surrounded by his family. Tom was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 23, 1951, before moving to Mayagüez, Puerto Rico for most of his childhood. He attended Academia Inmaculada Concepción, graduated from Our Lady of the Valley, and went on to study at Bloomfield College. He was the eldest child of the late Emilio and Caroline "Carol" Miele and brother of Patricia McArdle (Kevin).

Tom served as president and owner of Quality Woods Ltd. for over 30 years. He loved to travel and experience new cultures through food, and was affectionately known as "Tommy Tours" for hosting impromptu tour groups during his travels. He passed on his love for traveling and food to his family.

Tom is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Deborah, his twin daughters, Lauren (Adam) and Erica (Steven), a grandson, Landon, and a second grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia (Kevin), and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Tom is also "Dad" and "Uncle" to many close friends who were like family. He was preceded in death by his father, Emilio, and mother, Carol.

In observance of Tom's wishes, there will be no services, and the family asks for privacy during this time. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date, to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all the medical staff who cared for Tom, including Summit Health, Hackensack University Hospital, and Memorial Sloan Kettering. They also thank all the family and friends who supported Tom over the years. Tom will be fondly remembered for his humor and love for his family.
