Obituary for Gayle Nicastro
Gayle Petruzzi Nicastro, a loving mother, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the age of 65. She was born in Montclair, NJ, and had been a lifelong resident of Cedar Grove. Gayle worked at Dr. Elassar's dental office and was a popular figure known to all at Cedar Grove's Grasshopper restaurant, where she had been employed for several years. Her warm and friendly presence made her beloved by many.
Gayle will be fondly remembered for her comical sense of humor, which engaged everyone who knew her. She was a one-of-a-kind, true-blue, genuinely good person. If you were fortunate enough to be her friend, you had a loyal advocate for life. Gayle had a core group of friends with whom she packed in a lot of good times over six decades. She also had a deep love for dogs and dedicated as much time as possible to dog sitting for friends and family members.
She is survived by her two children, Ralph Joseph III and his wife Rachel, and Michele Evelyn and her husband, Jerry Vitiello Jr. Gayle is also survived by her brother, Marco Petruzzi, sister-in-law Jan Criscitiello, nephew Joseph Criscitiello Jr., Aunt Louise Locascio Matarazzo, stepmother-in-law Helen Nicastro, and many loving cousins and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marco and Carmella Petruzzi, as well as her late husband, Ralph Nicastro Jr., father-in-law Ralph Nicastro Sr., mother-in-law Evelyn, and brother-in-law Joseph Criscitiello Sr.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, May 31, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Caggiano Memorial Home, located at 62 Grove Street, Montclair, NJ. Condolences can be shared at caggianomemorial.com. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, situated at 94 Pine Street, Montclair, NJ. Following the service, there will be an interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery located at 712 Grove St, Montclair, NJ 07043.
