Obituary for Robert W Behnke

Robert W. Behnke Jr. President of Letter Carriers local in Montclair, 69 Robert W. Behnke Jr., 69, of Montclair, N.J., passed away on Nov. 4, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Montclair. Cremation will be private. Visiting will be on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair. Visit: Caggianomemorial.com. Robert was a lifelong resident of Montclair, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1964. He then attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a letter carrier with the U.S. Post Office in Montclair for 35 years, and served as president of Local 342, National Letter Carriers Union in Montclair before retiring in 2001. He was employed by Home Depot in Clifton, N.J., until the time of his illness. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carole (nee Hildisch) Behnke, and his sister, Marilyn Behnke. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Winifred (nee Reardon).
