Franklin Burton “Burt” Bronander, former general manager of the Wedgewood Cafeteria and Montclair realtor, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, January 9, 2017. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the St Theresa’s of Calcutta Parish - Church of the Immaculate Conception, 30 North Fullerton Avenue, Montclair.
Born May 25, 1934, in Montclair, NJ, Burt attended Montclair Academy, Admiral Farragut Academy and graduated from Babson College. He served his country in the Navy for six years.
Former President of the Commonwealth Club of Montclair, Burt enjoyed spending time there with his friends playing poker, chess and bowling, but his greatest passions were dancing with his beloved wife, spending time with his family, planting his garden and raking his leaves.
Pre-deceased by his loving wife Kathleen M. Bronander, Burt is survived by his five children, Katherine Joslin, Franklin B. Bronander Jr., Joanne Bronander, Albert Bronander and Tara Fitzgibbons; their spouses; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and his sister Eris-Marie Bunnell. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilhelm B. and Iris P. Bronander, and his brothers Wilhelm Jr. and Jack. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PALS for Patriots (Patient AirLift Services,) 120 Adams Road, Farmingdale, NY 11735 or the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center, 8 Yogi Berra Dr., Little Falls, NJ 07424.
